See the best of the city from Cape Town hotels

Art galleries, museums, monuments, botanical gardens, biodiversity gardens, urban parks, seascapes, mountains, winelands, upmarket shopping centres, flea markets, organic markets and live music… South Africa’s Mother City has all that and more.

Cape Town hotels are well situated to allow you to choose some or all of these things to do during your holiday, depending on your time and budget. There is a wide selection of contemporary, photographic and commercial art galleries to browse through and you could even choose some wonderful investment pieces to suit your office or home.

At one end of the Company’s Garden, Cape Town hotel guests can wander into the South African Museum to see collections of fossils that are almost 700-million years old and stone tools made by people 120 000 years ago. Remember there is no hard and fast rule to the kind of wine you should be drinking. Forget about fashions and fads and simply go for the one that you like best, and remember that when you do find the one that is perfect for your palate, buy a whole case or even a couple of cases, because there is nothing sadder than getting to the last bottle and you find you are unable to find the wine that you have fallen in love with.
Wine is there for your enjoyment. There is no point in having wines in your wine collection that you will never drink and that you simply do not enjoy. This is what wine experts recommend when you buy wine, or if you are building up a wine collection.
Choosing the correct wine is quite easy; simply taste as much wine as possible and decide which ones fit your lifestyle and individual tastes. And once you find a wine that is perfectly suited to your tastes, say for example a Merlot or a Chardonnay, do a little research on the internet and find out more about the wineries where the wines come from and which ones have a good reputation regarding these wines. Or ask your bottle store for further information.
If you do plan on keeping a wine for a long time, say for a couple of years, then ask the winemaker how long it is recommended that the wine should be stored.
There is a plethora of choices and a good starting point would be to keep a variety of wines in your collection, of which some should include Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot, Pinotage, and Chenin Blanc, ranging in price. Sparkling wine, port and a noble late harvest will complete your collection as well.
Remember that selecting fine wine should be paired to complement certain foods, too. When pairing wine, look to contrasting or complementing elements; this is especially pertinent to the new style of cooking which we enjoy in today’s world.

There is truly nothing like flying in a helicopter the experience is with you forever, I flew in a helicopter 10 years ago, I was a lot younger but I still remember that day as if it were yesterday.

Flying in a helicopter is one of those experiences you are able to share with a complete stranger and somehow your elation will make them feel as if they were sitting right next to you when it all happened.

Before lift of is the whole process of getting in, the rotor is so loud and blows this heavy hot wind on you that alone is one scary yet exciting experience, looking at a helicopter from a far (in the air or on TV) they seem a lot smaller, in real life they are these big and fast machines that can do wonders.

Inside the chopper there are safety guides that will teach you how to strap on the seat belts, sizes of the plane vary, it’s a lot calmer and audible than outside and you may get to meet the pilots and have a quick briefing session as to you should do in the event of an emergency. The moments of a helicopter are like something from an amusement park when it lifts off you feel like you in a car that instead of going forward goes up but then as it starts to manoeuvre in the air going up and down and doing back flips, you know that it’s like nothing you’ve ever experienced.

Flying in a helicopter exposes you to views that are breath-taking and little if any communication takes place in the air it’s just loud rotors, gorgeous views of the city and one of the best rides of your life.

Going on an excursion is always fun and exciting however there’s a
reason why a handful of people will appoint them as a committee to hand
the travel plans.

A brief checklist of travel planning is as follows:

  • Bookings
  • Gear
  • Program/activities
  • Purpose

The most important thing is finding out quotes and making bookings as
soon as possible you don’t want to be stuck in Johannesburg during
December simply because all hotels and bed and breakfasts in Cape Town
are fully booked. If the travel plan is to do adventure activities it’s always a good idea to make sure you book in advance.

Make sure you have packed the relevant clothes and necessary
equipment you will be making use of at your designation. Make checklists
and be sure that things like extra batteries are purchased, always
remember to pack for the climate of where you are going.

Whatever the travel arrangement, book packages that
best suit your groups interests, don’t book safaris and hot air
ballooning if you guys will want to be under water most of the time also
with the travel packages; you have the option to make your own trip
e.g. doing a few tours daily and having one day of intense adventure
activities it all depends on you.

Always remember the purpose of the trip, it sometimes happens that an
adventure excursion to a coastal area somehow turns into a cruise trip
to Mozambique simple because arrangements kept on changing and few group
members managed to twists everyone’s arm into doing what they wanted.
There’s always highlights to adventurous outings for some it may be
shark cage diving and others bungee jumping, always focus on those
highlights and the travelling plan will go accordingly.

Every once in a while we need to do something extreme like an adventure tour, it seems the older people get the less adventurous they become, we are all so focused on life and our responsibilities.

There are a number of activities from quad biking, bungee jumping and
safaris it may not all be for you but you’re guaranteed to find
something you will enjoy. An adventure tour isn’t meant to shock
you back to normality, they are there to forge new experiences and
strengthen relationships.

Team building exercises and practices serve their purpose best when
they take place at an adventure camp, the best way to learn more about
the people that you work with is when you are all disorientated and
involved in some extreme situations, your true colours are exposed and
everyone is acting solely on instincts. You also get to learn about your
own personal strengths and weaknesses even those strengths that may
serve as weaknesses in the greater group dynamics.

As strange as it may sound; adventure tours may be very romantic,
newly-weds may enjoy a honeymoon filled with adventure and all sorts of
unusual activities. It’s a great way to start a marriage and those kinds
of memories are the type you won’t be forgetting anytime soon. Families
may also consider doing an adventurous holiday, dysfunctions will fly
right out of the window and the family unit will be a lot stronger.
Friends whom are adrenalin junkies will appreciate an extreme adventure trip

With more and more extreme sports being invented and being reinvented, there are now TV shows dedicated to this growing and dangerous sport. Some of these shows are reality shows and some are just solid action. Here are a few shows that are currently popular.

If a person is into mixed martial arts, M-1 Global is considered the “World Cup”. This show is shown in over eighty countries. There is a team of five mixed martial art fighters that represent their country and try to win the bragging rights for their country and the coveted M-1 Challenge Champion. New fighters are introduced to the world through this show.
If a person is into cowboys and bulls, then PBR or Professional Bull Riders 2011 is the extreme sport full of authentic real action to get a person’s blood pumping. Watch the pros on tour. The show is usually two hours long and the bull riders are interviewed, the bulls are talked about, and then of course there is plenty of rodeo action.
If fast cars, dangerous speeds, high turns, and spectacular car crashes is in a person’s blood, Nascar or any kind of auto racing will keep a person pumped all season long. This is a favorite extreme sport in many countries and millions of fans worldwide. There are so many favorite drivers and memorabilia that are fought over constantly. Now with a very hot lady driver, Danica Patrick, she is definitely stirring things up worldwide in the racing world.
WWE or World Wrestling Entertainment rivals Nascar with millions of fans worldwide. There is soap opera drama, blood, guts, and tons of action and definite injuries that are non stop.
Extreme sports TV shows will increase more and more as people are demanding more drama and action.
